Have you ever Facebooked (which will soon be an official verb by the way) your old elementary and high school friends?
It’s pretty interesting to see what everyone is up to after college. (The concept of time is skewed when you’re at cfc and you have really old people acting like they’re still in college…totally serious)
Anyway, there seems to be a general pattern I see:
All my jock friends are in business…or unemployed.
All the ‘mean girls’ got jobs though. Interesting how that worked out.
Most of my fellow nerd friends are in graduate school. A few of them are doing philanthropic work like Teach for America or Americorps (i’m proud of them for sticking with their values)
My Polish friend is teaching in Korea O.o
One of the smartest guys I know went to stanford, then started a band.
Some guys I thought would never get hooked up got hooked up before me O.o
On that note, the girl I asked out and rejected me sophomore year of high school is still on campus…
Some of my friends got married…then had babies…or the other way around.
But this is the one that shocked me. So this particular girl, who I would call the Lindsay Lohan of ‘mean girls’ at my high school, came to U of I and joined the whole Greek system culture and was living it up during college. Actually, the few times I saw her were at a frat party my freshman year. Anyway, one day I was at Vineyard cuz I missed church and what do you know, she’s standing in front of me.
So being the skeptic that I am, I thought to myself, ‘Oh that’s nice, her friend must’ve brought her here.’ Anyway, I recently checked her facebook and her favorite music is now shane and shane, her favorite book is the Bible, and all she posts are quotes about living for Christ and pictures of her missions trip to Africa.
It’s hard to describe the change, but in my perspective, this is pretty unbelievable. Like she was one of the last people I thought would become such a devoted Christian.
It only affirms that God can seriously change ANYBODY’s heart. Praise God.
